Earnings disclaimer

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Root Pass sells educational material about the welding trade. This page states plainly what we do and do not claim.

We do not promise you any income

Nothing on this website, in The Root Pass Playbook, in the Test Prep Pack, in the Rig and Business Kit, in our emails or in our advertising is a promise, guarantee or projection of earnings, employment, certification or business results.

We do not know your situation. What any individual welder earns depends on their skill, their certifications, their location, the hours available to them, the employer or clients they work with, the state of their local economy, and a considerable amount of timing. None of those are within our control or our knowledge.

About the wage figures we publish

The wage, cost and workforce figures on this site and in our products are third party published data. Each one is cited to its source and dated where it appears. The main sources are the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the American Welding Society, published union scale agreements, published wage aggregator data and published trade school tuition pages.

Those figures describe what has been reported for the occupation. They are not an offer, not a prediction, and not a statement about what you specifically will earn.

Where a figure is a market range compiled for planning purposes rather than published data, such as the rig startup cost table, it is labelled as such in the text.

About the pay calculator

The welder pay calculator on this site is an estimator. It combines published wage bands with assumptions you select about hours, setting and per diem, and it deliberately returns a range rather than a single number. It is not an offer of employment, not advice about any specific job, and not a prediction of your earnings.

Not professional advice

Our products are educational material only. They are not career advice, financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, insurance advice or safety advice for your specific situation.

Certification requirements, welding codes, safety regulations, wages and costs change. Always confirm current requirements with the certifying body, your employer, the applicable regulator, or a qualified professional in your state before acting on anything we publish.

Safety information in our products is general. It is not a substitute for your employer's procedures, the equipment manufacturer's instructions, or applicable OSHA regulations.

No affiliation

Root Pass is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the American Welding Society, ASME, API, the Canadian Welding Bureau, the United Association, Local 798, the Boilermakers, the Ironworkers, any employer, or any trade school named on this site or in our products. Those names are used only to describe the codes, credentials and organisations that exist in the trade.
